Reviewed 21 September 2026. Adobe Firefly is strongest when AI imaging is part of a broader production workflow. Its connection with Photoshop and Adobe Express means generated elements can move directly into tools that designers already use for retouching, layout and final delivery.
Where it performs well
Generative Fill, Generative Expand and prompt-based editing are practical for changing backgrounds, extending compositions and producing controlled variations. Firefly also offers access to multiple creative models in one environment, which helps teams compare approaches without rebuilding their entire workflow.
Limitations
The credit system and differences between standard and premium features require attention when estimating production costs. Results can also feel safer or more conventional than tools aimed primarily at experimental art. Final assets still benefit from a designer’s judgement.
Verdict
Best for: agencies, in-house design teams and existing Creative Cloud users who need AI generation to connect with professional editing and approval processes.
